Muscle Control & Balance
At this stage, your child is in the midst of an exciting journey of growth and discovery, as they learn how to navigate their own body. You might observe some adorable moments of clumsiness and frequent tumbles.
Don't worry, we're here to help your child master the art of balance, enhance their control over movements, and have fun while practicing coordination skills!
Memory
At this stage, we really begin working on memory with your child to develop them intellectually. We’ll be giving your child 3-4 steps regularly in class to memorize and practice.
This is great for memorization in school, as well as following directions at home!
Healthy competition
Your child at this stage of their life will often try to win to earn your approval. They often gain a massive confidence boost through winning, but take losing very hard.
For emotional development, we’ll practice healthy competition in class and learn how to encourage friends along the way.
Team Building
We’ll play tons of fun team-building games that teach following directions, encouragement, and team building.
Socially your child is learning how to work with others and listen to multiple directions at a time.

What age groups do you cater to in your martial arts programs?
Our programs are designed for a wide range of ages. We offer Kids Martial Arts for children ages 4-12, Teens & Adults Martial Arts for ages 13 and up, and specialized programs like our After School Program and Summer Camp for school-aged children.
Do I need any prior martial arts experience to join?
Absolutely not! That's we're here. come a join our great group of members, you'll be glad you.
What should I wear to my first class?
Your first class will not be overly strenuous, just bring comfortable clothes that you can move in and a water bottle if you would like.
How often are classes held, and what is the schedule?
Classes are held at various times throughout the week. classes are divided by age and skill rank. you should plan on attending class twice a week although there are some specialty classes you may elect to attend.
Can I observe a class before signing up?
Of course! we would love to have you observe our award-winning nationally recognized classes. feel free to drop in and observe why American Karate Studio is the number-one-rated martial arts school in Wilmington.
What safety measures are in place during classes?
All of our classes are taught by highly experienced professional martial arts instructors. we have a safety-first policy here at American Karate Studio. we also utilize state-of-the-art protective flooring and other equipment for our training.
Do you offer any trial classes or introductory offers?
We have several options to get started with your martial arts training, and we offer a free trial Discovery lesson that you can find listed on the website.
How can I enroll in a program?
Step one is to enroll in any of our starter programs, and then you simply meet with our enrollment director and they will set up your class times and answer any other questions you may have.
What payment options do you offer?
We offer a variety of payment options to fit your needs, including monthly memberships, and discounts for long-term commitments. Payments can be made via credit card, debit card, or direct bank transfer.
Do you offer family discounts?
First 2 family members pay full price; additional family members join for free (great way for siblings or parents to participate).
